While working in BYU, he developed the story for the Ender’s Game which he submitted to different publications which was bought by Ben Boya in the year 1977. While running his company, he also became a part-time proofreader in BYU Press before he applied as a fulltime copy editor. Upon returning from his LDS Mission in the country of Brazil, he established the Utah Valley Repertory Theatre Company which produced plays in an outdoor amphitheater near the psychiatric hospital in Provo. Orson Scott Card started his writing career as a poet while he was studying in Brigham Young University. He also graduated from Brigham Young University as well as at the University of Utah before he took his PhD at the University in Notre Dame. Before he wrote books, he first served as a missionary for the Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church in Brazil. He is born in Richland Washington in Augbut he grew up in various places which include Santa Clara in California, Mesa, Arizona and Orem, Utah. The son of Willard and Peggy Card, Orson Scott Card is the third of the six children. Currently, he is writing and co-producing a film based on his books and he is also an English professor at Southern Virginia University. In one interview he was quoted saying “ I was trying to establish separate identity in the marketplace ” which is his main reason for carrying different pseudonyms. ![]() Gump, Byron Walley, Brian Green, Dinah Kirkham and Noam D. He has written a lot of books under different pseudonyms which include the names Frederick Bliss, P.Q. He has won several awards including the Nebula and Hugo Awards for his books Ender’s Game and the Speaker for the Dead. He writes in different genre but he is especially known for his many forensic fictions. Orson Scott Card is an American novelist, public speaker, critic and columnist.
